Hi There!!
The reason I am taking this class is to get a better understanding of what is in the realm of things that can be patented and what can't. In addition, my dad owns several patents and I want to learn what he was able to do that was unique that allowed him to get his patents. I feel like this class is very practical and especially if I ever decide to do anything entrepreneurial, it is important to know if you can patent your idea or product if it is novel. Conversely, it would be important to learn what you can't patent or what has already been patented so you don't infringe upon someone else's work.
In addition, I am taking this class to fulfill the Certificate of Entrepreneurship & Technology offered by the Fung Institute here at Berkeley. I think this class will provide me some practical knowledge that can come in handy in the future. I also enjoy the aspect of being able to see a patent trial happen because it will augment the in-class learning that we will have. I lastly chose this class because it wasn't about law, but more about the technology which I thought would be extremely interesting.

Introduction
Hello!
My name is Yash Verma and this is my blog for IEOR 190G. A little about myself for those who don't know me all that well, I am a third year Economics major and Public Policy minor at UC Berkeley. I am part of a AEZ, a South Asian professional fraternity on campus. In addition to school, I am a big fan of television and enjoy a wide variety of shows. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, throwing around a frisbee, and trying out all the food that Berkeley has to offer. I am originally from San jose, California and currently reside in Fremont, California.
I am a huge Bay Area sports fan and am an avid watcher of the San Francisco 49ers, Golden State Warriors, and San Francisco Giants. I love to learn diverse things and that is why at Berkeley, I take classes in a wide variety of subjects. After Berkeley, I hope to go into consulting and then onto MBA school.
